We are excited to announce that Carolina Family Estate Planning was recently named one of the fastest-growing firms in the country by the Law Firm 500. Our firm was nominated for the competition by another attorney and ranked #185th overall due to our steady growth over the last few years.

The Law Firm 500 Conference was held from October 19th to October 20th in Boca Raton, Florida. In addition to an Awards Presentation Gala on October 20th, there were two tracks of educational sessions, which covered topics ranging from client services to practice management and finance.

Daymond John, Founder of FUBU and investor on ABC's Shark Tank, was the keynote speaker at the Law Firm 500's Awards Presentation Gala, and discussed his book, "The Power of Broke." John started his business with only a $40.00 budget and the dream of designing a clothing company that catered to young men. After years of selling his merchandise on consignment and at large events around the Northeast, FUBU gained national recognition. Today, the company is worth 6 million dollars. During his speech, John explained that his success came from letting his "power-of-broke" mindset fuel his ambition and creativity.

John's speech reminded us of CFEP's early days as a brand-new firm. When I founded Carolina Family Estate Planning in 2009, there was nothing to lose and everything to gain. I started this business from the ground up with the mission to help families secure their financial future, and it has been a rewarding experience to see this vision turn into a reality. While our firm has come a long way in the last eight years, the desire to continually innovate has remained steadfast, and allowed us to grow over 30 percent between 2014 and 2016, and receive many local awards for which we are very grateful.

The most important lesson that we have learned, however, is that to be successful—delivering personal planning and excellent service to our clients must remain paramount. We are consistently implementing new systems and technology to provide the best service to every client we meet. Each client is unique and has a personal story, and we consider it an honor to be a part of these stories.

As many of you know, November is National Alzheimer’s Month.  In an effort to help spread awareness, we are featuring Cheryl's article that details her experience attending a Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT) in this issue. We hope you'll take a moment to read her story and learn more about VDT—a valuable tool providing a window into the lives of dementia patients and their loved ones.

As we reflect on this holiday season, we are filled with so much gratitude for our team and our clients. Thank you all for helping us grow and for being such an integral part of our success. We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to serve you and your families.

On behalf of all of us at CFEP, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
