It can be overwhelming to navigate the maze of potential government benefits available to seniors and individuals with disabilities—there are over 2,000 federal, state, and private benefits out there!

The National Council on Aging (NCOA), a non-profit advocacy organization in Washington, DC, offers a free BenefitsCheckUp service.  It takes about 10 minutes to enter your information online and the site will give you a report of potential benefit programs that may be applicable.

Many over the age 55 need help with paying for health care costs, prescription drugs, utilities, housing, or other needs, but many aren’t even aware that some of these programs exist or how they can apply.

Potential benefits could include assistance with:

  • Health Care
  • Housing
  • Prescription Medications
  • Food
  • Utilities
  • Legal Assistance
  • In-Home Services
  • Transportation
  • Taxes
  • Employment Training

The free BenefitsCheckUp service will give you a personalized report of which programs you may be eligible for, how to apply to get more information, and in some cases, it may directly link you to the application forms.  Check it out!

If you need help figuring out how to pay for long-term care, consider using a professional to help show you how. Call our office for a free phone assessment or contact us online. We're here to help!
